in my experience its not even always rot, it can be powdery mildue making ph drop. Use h2o2 or pythoff as a preventative measure throughout grow :)
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

I've been researching my ass off for days, guess what some commercial greenhouses use on our food? Tiny doses of chlorine throughout the grow! When growing in hyrdroponics they maintain a level of .5-1 ppm of chlorine at all times.

If you look up this product called UC Roots, it contains sodium hypochlorite. When sodium hypochlorite hits water, ot becomes chlorine. Meaning..... Dun dun dunnnn!
They're selling bleach water for 90$ a gallon!

Nanook I kid you not, I added .5 ml of bleach to 15 gallons before adding my nutes (recirculated bleach water when cleaning without the plant in, rinsed well also)
I've been at 1.0 EC and 6.0 ph for 3 days now, my problems are gone it seems like! Roots look fantastic, nice and white. Not a hint of brown

I bought a chlorine meter which will be in next week, going to maintain the .5 ppm from now on

I'll keep you posted on how the chlorine works out, a lot cheaper than h2o2 and pythoff combined that's for sure! See if we can save some cash

Just want to finish up this thread by saying if you maintain .5-1 ppm of chlorine in the res at all times (I have to add 3 ml daily to 15 gallons of RO) you can definitely keep a pathogen free solution
A lot cheaper than h2o2

One of many ways you can handle things I guess..

Unfortunately my plants were badly stunted and locked out from raising the ec too much, decided to pull the plug and tear it all down

Just to clarify - I figured out why my ec was all messed up josh, when I went to clean up there were barely any roots - obviously never fully recovered from pythium. This resulted in the plant cannibalizing itself and the res ec rising. Least now I know what my issue was.

Oh damn, I never thought of that. My roots were pretty decent for only 1 week veg, I'm pretty sure when I upped the EC to 1.7 like a dipshit it locked the plant out. Just would not start feeding again
Whenever I do dwc again I'm keeping it at or below 1.0
