id advise h2o2/pythoff. tried and tested - lesson learned, if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!

True that, I totally understand. But what if nothing at all is needed as long as temps are kept in check and plenty of oxygen and circulation is available? Have you ever tried this?

I did dwc buckets with just air stones and the odd cold water bottle. No root rot prevention and never saw root rot with water temps maxing out about 22c

I believe it can be done. It's just a question of being confident you can manage it if something goes wrong

I've been keeping my water temps in check and haven't even done a res change yet. No issues here
