Growing hacks

Post by Keeno »

It always amazes me how we are all doing the same thing yet do it in our own ways. On many a occasion ive been chatting to someone on here and it think to myself "why didnt i think of that". So here is a topic for you to share all the things that make your growing that little bit easier, im sure others would love to see what you are up to.

Ill kick thing off with a simple one.

The canna nutrient bottle design is very handy, it makes getting your desired amount out a lot easier than a standard bottle many nutrients come in. Im sure we have all been there, you drop your measuring syringe into a bottle and spent the next 5 minutes fishing it out. Some of the products we use can be dangerous to, ph up and down, liquid oxygen etc, when these bottles are half empty i used to find myself tipping em to get my little 5ml syringe into the liquid. Ive now started using the canna bottles for everything, they are made of the same stuff as the bottles for the more dangerous products, made my life a lot easier doing so.

Stoner ingenuity at it's purest!!

A simple one is marking the rod of your syringes as the number run off pretty quickly sometimes... additional to this, something you can pick up a few one or two if you say that happen to your child's Calpol syringe at the local pharmacy

One hack I came up with due to space limitations in my tent was making my own inline carbon filter. Super easy
Just get a rubbermaid tote that you can fit your carbon filter inside, cut a hole on either end, attach your ducting and you're done. I also used foam gap filler to get an airtight seal around the cuts.
Not pretty but it gets the job done.
Pushing air through the filter is an option but imho it doesn't work like it's supposed to and is prone to smell leaks. Never pushing air through a filter again.
My neighbors thought I was always smoking in my room, apparently the smell was leaking from the attic into their apartment . Little do they know there's a lot more going on than that
So it goes tent-->inline filter-->fan-->out the room

Never use the same Pipettes for pH Down & Ph UP(or Liquid Silicone)
If they are not washed really well mixing the two of them together will cause a chemical reaction and will form thick silicone product inside the Pipettes. It will also get very warm!

Don't ask how I know. Just don't do it! :D

I am going to do that mate. At the moment i push ait though my filter and all hot air goes back to the attic. Winter was good but not in summer. Can you take a few photos for me all around the box please? So one ducting goes from tent to the box, then filter is inside the box with another piece of ducting attached to it, ducting goes through another hole, then fan and ducting again extracting to the attic vent?

Yep, that's correct bulls. Here's some pics

So the fan is pulling air through the filter, I use passive intake method so it creates negative pressure for me

I just put my exhaust hose onto the tote and traced a circle, then used a utility knife to cut it (be careful mate, lol) the spray foam can be found at any hardware store, where gloves and be careful not to let the foam touch anything you care about. If it drips immediately clean up with rubbing alcohol
One side of the carbon filter will obviously stick through the tote so you can attach the hose with the usual clamp, but the foam is necessary for an airtight seal. Or a shit load of duct tape your call
