Down pipe exhaust??

Post by Lukeypoo »

My current set up can't deal with this heat,. My veg cab lights are off between 8am-2pm but it's still hot as fuck in the garage at 2pm
I'm fitting an air brick today that's going to connect to my 6" intake duct to draw outside air in. That air is sucked through the veg cab and into tbe flower cab, through the filter and out the ducting just into my garage. This makes the garage hella muggy and hot..

For some reason when they built the garage the left the drainpipe and soak away in the garage (great for draining my tanks) if I built a box around the soak away then connected a little 4" fan and some ducting to the box I could blow away some of the hot air that kicks out the flower cab? I'd only need to run this during the hottest of days.. Do you see a problem with it?

Honestly, in these situations the best you can do it try it. From speaking to others.... you need to insulate the whole garage including the door to keep temps up in winter, and down in summer.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Yeah.. I've been stock pilling insulation and boards to do the garage roof, just haven't got enough yet, I've done the door which as of yet hasn't made much difference over all.. Its doesn't radiate heat so much anymore but yeah it's the roof that's letting the heat/cold in.
Winter generally isn't too bad, I'll vent back into the garage during the colder months and I have a tube heater in each cab

Fortunately for me our plans have fallen through this afternoon so going to have a play today and see if I can improve the situation all
I'm just worried when I turn the fan on I'm going to shoot anything sat in the down pipe is going to get shot into the air

Ran into a problem.. The ducting and down pipe wont fit in on the same useable bit of wall.
Useable in the sense of trying to keep it relatively stealth, whilst utilising the downpipe and pulling in the coldest air possible

Ive had to sack off using the metal brick duct in the picture for my solution but I think it will work
First picture is a cover to cover the soak away, the smaller hole is for the down pipe and the other hole is for 4" exhaust ducting
The second brick up behind the holes will be replaced with a air brick tomorrow

The second picture is the chamber for the intake, the top mark is for the down pipe to pass through, the large middle mark is for intake ducting and bottom mark is for the exhaust ducting to pass through
I might make the chamber a 3rd shorter though.. After looking at it, it doesn't really need to be that big
Anyone got any ideas on how I can continue to use it for draining my tanks into the soak away whilst trying to keep thinks air tight.

Just read through the thread. Bloody problems always in the summer! You got good thinking there mate and hopefully what you do will sort you out but not sure how you can make use of it as a drainage at the same time too.. hmm..

This morning I knocked through for the air brick and mucked it in place.
Then screwed the seal to the front peice and screwed that into the wall. Then sealed all peices that met the wall with expanding foam. Just waiting for it to go off then going to cut the excess foam off then run the tubes in
