I planted mine under the soil and had a heat mat under and light above. Apparently they need it pretty warm to germinate. They sprouted in around 2-5 days except for the birds eye chillies which took a couple of weeks. Had around 85% success rate. Hope this helps

I think the heat is the most important. I might try a few on top of the soil and see what happens.

Hi again. Forgive me if I'm posting a little too often but I'm a bit excited, and I have a day off

So I've given some of my plants away to family and then happened to stumble across some chilli plants that I didn't have in the garden center. It would have been rude not to get them.

So far I have

Jamaican red
Birdseye
Trinidad scorpion
Hungarian yellow wax
Carolina reaper red and chocolate
Jalapeno
Devils tongue
Scotch bonnet
Some random ones that I planted from seeds that I got from Tesco chillies.

And a bunch of sweet peppers

Here are few pictures.
