Ph swing in Reservoir??

Soo asking for a friend.. And I think I already know the answer I sold him one of my wilma systems and he's set up using wilma xl big four, but he's got 9 pots on it
(not that, that would make any difference)
Canna coco Pro with perlite (unsure on ratio)
Cana a and b with cannazym and root power from plagron
For ph down he's using apple cider vinegar??? (this is where I think the problem is)
The plants are doing fine and he's noticed a massive difference in growth with the system but is struggling to get ontop ph.. Its swinging from 5.8 right up to about 7 every couple of days.
Im not currently using my systems but I'm sure id remember mad ph swings like that! But the difference is I've always used growth technology ph down..
Could/would this be the cause?
He's always used apple cider vinegar apperently, but he's always handwatered his coco/soil

should PH daily imho - not sure on the ph down hes using but I guess EC is dropping as well fast - up EC if it is and the swing should slow.

@Nanook I don't think he owns a ec meter.. We've never really gone into great detail of what he does but I think he literally just uses the suggested amount on whatever nutrient he's using
With my system, the only time I'd have a swing was the first couple of days after a tank change, I'd check every 2/3 days but I wouldn't need to bring it down much or at all
@Viz I don't belive he does, (although he did advise me previously I should be doing this) I was at his place the other day and didn't see the means to store the water before it goes in the tank and I'm the same.. Been umm and arring wether I should get a flexi tank for this purpose though.. Does it make much difference?

Yea I imagined the vinegar wasn't ideal.. He can't be saving that much money on vinegar compared to the rate he's using it compared to ph down aha

I appreciate it man! Is there any noticeable difference in letting the chlorine evaporate off?
Update on my pal, he's coming round tonight to grab some pH down to see if it still swings as wild. He's read something about the airstone can cause the pH to rise? Again I never had this problem but I didn't use a traditional airstone I used a air curtain

Get an EC pen. pH is affected by EC also.

Ph rising is natural. Try setting it at 5.5 let it swing upto 6.5 and then bring it back down a good ph swing will make all the elements available to the plant. Different elements are more available at different ph levels . So by letting it swing you cover the full range

I lent him mine and he tested his EC in one corner of the tank and it was at 0.8 and 1.2 in another side.. I've advised he runs a pump in the tank to keep everything mixed

you know, a fishtank bubbling thing. It mixes the water well and adds oxygen to the solution :)
