When to chose LST over SCROG or visa versa
Hi everyone
As we all progress as growers, we tend to find "our" best way of doing things. Sometimes this is down to personal techniques and time requirement, sometimes this is down to the strain we are working with and how it's structure forms
So with this in mind, how and when do YOU decide on one training method over another? And where possible, why do you use this method over another in these instances?
I am currently heavy LST 3 plants on a very long veg and simply can't decide if a scrog or just carrying on LST will be the most benefit to them
This is my dilemma atm but I'm sure others must have found them selves in a similar position
Thanks for reading and I look forward to everyone input

Re: When to chose LST over SCROG or visa versa
If I want to do a TRUE scrog, I top once at the very beginning and then use the screen for the next month or so. They look awesome, you did a great job with the lst. But putting a screen over now would mainly just be to support the buds somewhat, no point in my oppinion.
I chose lst on this next grow also, first time I haven't used a screen. Plants are much taller than I'm used to but at the same time it's nice being able to move them around and not have them trapped

Re: When to chose LST over SCROG or visa versa
My simple answer is that :
IF you grow few or more plants --> GO LST.
IF you grow 1 or 2 plants only in a big space --> GO SCROG.
Both have pros and cons:
LST is faster but you need more plants to fill a space than SCROG
Both methods are time consuming adding support for each cola. We change the way plant grows naturally and it's impossible for a single plant to carry 20+ colas
LST gives you better access to your plants. Easier to manage if a plant gets sick or turns out to be a male/hermie.

Re: When to chose LST over SCROG or visa versa
Thanks very much for the input everyone
So I kinda take it that as a veg training style goes it's more down to personal choice, time, space and number of plants someone plans to work with
What about taking into the next stage though?
Let's say you have trained a nice even canopy all the way through veg, have nicely developed stems across the board (choosing either method)... now it's time to flip
Is the structure now strong enough to support a nice healthy bloom? do we need support each branch to get the most from the plant?

Re: When to chose LST over SCROG or visa versa
Plants are supposed to grow naturally into one big cola in the middle and few others side branches. We change all that. To me it's impossible for a plant to support 20+ colas on its own without extra support mate.

Re: When to chose LST over SCROG or visa versa
Yes, for me LST is quicker than Scrog. Example: Growing in a 1.2x1.2 tent. You want a scrog. Tent is in a place and designed in such way that you have access to one place only. Real struggle to get under the net and train plant daily. 1.2x1.2 tent will need at least 25L airpot and at least 10 weeks vegging to fill that place.
LST. You got 4 plants.
Easy to take out, not restricted by scrog net, rotate the pots daily 1/4 to guarantee equal amount of light all over the plant, rotate the plants in the tent every few days for the same reason.
Take a plant out, keep a close eye on stems, leaves. Train it the way you want.
5 weeks vegging: Plants are ready to be flipped and tent to be rammed.
Canopy as flat as a pancake(or the earth )

What you have her is perfect GMO, you have filled the space and have an even canopy. Cnt see why you would consider putting a net over that. Some cracking points Bulls has made btw.
