Hello GR420,
Thought I'd do a quick post about this as there's not much data out there other than what manufacturers say in regards to average lifespans of LED lamps.
After 50k hours of running time, my Invisible Sun 100w BR led has started to fail. It's not broken per-say but, I'm seeing stretching and large internodal spacing.
I'd say it may have lasted longer if kept in a larger room as it does get hot in that little tent at times but, 50k hours for a light that cost me £100 is amazing!

Re: My LED needs replacing! How many hours did it last.
I don't know exactly how many hours I have on my light. I did a quick estimate of veg (18 hours x 5 weeks x 7 days) + flower (12 hours x 10 weeks x 7 days) x 12 grows and I get about 18k hours. I had several leds stop working and decided to replace the boards. I'm sure I could have pressed on but HLG gave me an affordable price of $15.00 each for the Q288 boards.
I think you got your money's worth.

The 50k hours was an estimate for me. That light doesn't turn off and has been running for a little over 5 years. Even though it's on the lower end of the estimates provided by the manufacturer, it just shows that they really do last a long time indeed.Grumpy Toad wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 3:15 pmI don't know exactly how many hours I have on my light. I would have got through about 5-6 HID bulbs in the same time. They retail for ~ £20 each so it's paid for itself really. I'm quite sure it would run a cutting/seedling room for another 3-4 years TBH.
Another win for LED in my book.

One thing I have noticed is that LED lights that stay on constant last longer. I believe that turning them off and on wears them faster. Nothing to back that up other than personal experience. YMMV

That could be true indeed. I know computers last longer when they're left on all the time. I suppose the drivers could have some logic where they regulate the voltage and maybe it takes a while to stabilise the voltage or something.Grumpy Toad wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 3:46 pmOne thing I have noticed is that LED lights that stay on constant last longer.
