Ok so mind you I’m not hydro I grow in coco. So I did some looking and from what I’m reading brown roots or root rot is what it seems and most plants don’t normally recover from that. I’m not seeing where cutting the roots helps. Now I did see where some have tried and succeeded but you could probably grow another in the time it takes. I’m in no way a expert tho just my opinion and there is much better growers on here so we shall see what they have to say

This could be a number of things. Brown is normally not good but that doesn't mean always. Do you have a picture?

9 times out of 10 and dependent on stage plants were at id just start over if my plants had root rot.

Brown roots are not necessarily dead, could also be stained. Post a photo and someone will help. If they are rotten, they can be removed safely. If you have some enzymes in your ragime, they should help clean things up and encourage new roots. Trichoderma can also help here. Good luck.
