germinating seeds

Some of my seeds take 6 or 7 days to germinate, is that normal or should it be quicker. I use the paper towel method.

My seeds pop in 3 days but I let the tap root 1 or 2 more days.
I've been having troubles lately...no sprout at all on 6 good ones

Depends on the conditions and the age of the seed. Remember, seeds have to survive a winter before germinating the next season. 7 days is quite long, but not outrageous. You can also try soaking in a 1% peroxide solution to get things going a bit quicker. If it's just a specific pack or from a specific supplier, they're probably just old seeds.

Tried jiffy pellets, straight in pot. Wet paper towels method quickest for me. I use the plenty kitchen towel brand in a takeaway container, wCked in the airing cupboard. Peace

Not crazy but it is long for sure. They just want to make a dramatic entrance
