Resource for plant Breeders

Post by OperationGrow »

This is something I have been working on which is essentially just a different way to access the information eu.seedfinder.

The site is still very much in development so any feedback is greatly appreciated and welcome, along with any suggestions or ideas that would make it more useful.

You can:
  • search on a specific strain name
  • check to see if two strains are related at all
  • find plants with a specific flowering time
  • Ask a question of data for example: Suggest 3 strains that are mold resistant. <- This is still in the early stages.
If you double click a node in graph/visualisation it will open the relevant page on eu.seedfinder so you can take a deeper dive if you want to.

If there are any UI developers here who would like to get involved please let me know.

Please be VERY careful clicking this link. Personally, I wouldn't click it.

Curious as to why not?

Yes it does not have domain name with it yet as it is a personal project that is still in early development. There is no https as there is no user information or login required etc... and the added overhead of SSL implementation (which requires a domain name) is just that an overhead that is not required.

If the site required you to register and login to use then yes, not being SSL/HTTPS etc... would be red flag.

When I'm happy with how it works and based on feedback, I will be rolling it out a full blown service that would need you to register to use, but that is a few months away still.

Because you're a relatively new user and if you're writing webapps, you should know better than most on here why you might not want to click links provided by others.

This is Pete from Operation Grow Show.
You are absolutely right we never want anyone clicking random links but this one is truly safe. It just maybe was brought up the wrong way. Pete is a good guy though and isn’t doing anything nefarious with this link.

@OperationGrow has been a sponsor of the forum and regular on the podcast as well as hosting his own regular podcast. Most on here will be familiar with Pete. The software is very cool and I think will be very helpful to those who like to research Genetics.

@seymore_budz you are absolutely right to point out a post from a account that hasn't posted in a while suddenly posting a link, thank you. I assure you I and many others know of Operation Grow and his work in the community.

This link 100% falls under educational and so is allowed.

I know anyone who loves Genetics and the history of them will love what @OperationGrow is working on.

@OperationGrow very nice little tool. Great work. Only criticism I have is maybe have the graph animation fade out a little faster because as the graphs get busy, it's hard to focus on some of the writing.

I knew you would like it in particular. I know @Cave Hill Cole will get lost down the rabbit hole with this. @Marcus loves his oldschool Genetics and heritage too.
