Changing light cycles mid flower?

Post by Tictok »

Hey all

My light come on around 6am and off at 6pm.

With the weather getting hotrer in the day and the complication of being in a loft thr heat so I figured what if I change the cycle to come on at 6pm and off at 6am to keep cooler in the day.

Running Chem D S1s which as a strain is prone to nanas so wanyed to keep the stress to a minimum but what would be the best approach?

Just flip it so they end up getting 24hr light or dark (I think dark would be best) in one go?

Or, gradually change it an hour a day?

I'm favouring the former but if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

I left a light on for 24 hours at 5 weeks in flower, hasnt
really stressed them.
Id say light for 24 hours.
But im not a pro, there are plenty of others who will probably suggest
the best way. 8-) 8-)

If I had to do and I mean if it was absolutely necessary I would go with darkness as if any stress on the plant it would be to flower quicker rather than want to reveg if you are only a few weeks from finish just wait and change timers then

I’d go with darkness as well I think although I’d rather not change the time , I accidentally left my lights on for 36hrs on about week 4 of flower, one looked like she was sulking abit and may throw a false banana but I think she forgive me 🙏.

as above. Id personally give them an extra long dark period and then continue like normal. maybe keep an eye on them for stress

I'd say it's their circadian rhythm that decides on stuff.

I'd leave them be and change it when you chop them.

Keep lights OFF for 24 hours then switch to a new time as be less stressful and the ladies would of had there 12hrs of darkness

i was wondering if this would come into play. like they accustom to one time and expect darkness etc

I tried running lights at night in summer for same reason. However i found it ended up being hotter when the lights were off than when they were on and the plants didnt seem to like it. Now i just let it get hot. Pretty sure it went over 40 in there last year.

I do this every year. 10am - 10pm. Change it once it gets warm, no matter what stage if growrh im in. As mentioned above, nice long dark period inbetween.
