Under the Scope
Thought I was getting a thrip invasion so figured “To Know Your Enemy, You Must Become Your Enemy” - Sun Tzu
Seemed like a good opportunity to get the scope out and see if I can find any critters. Spent a couple of days on this now and still not seen anything moving yet.
Here are some of the more interesting photos, these are all made up of multiple images at different levels of focus, all stacked together to make one image. Some of the photos took over 40 images to get one end photo.
These are all done using Darkfield and using either a 4 or 10x magnification.
All images are from plants that are in veg.
Leaf Stem
This looks like a trichome has been punched into the leaf
This looks like a Volcano
Found some Nipples
Edge of Leaf
Healthy Leaf
The rest are images of cell damage

Re: Under the Scope
This is very cool Vador. Are you using some sort of software to stack the images after taking them?

Re: Under the Scope
Yes thats right, I basically drop my dslr with a special attachment into the top of the microscope and take a photo at every magnification, then use a photo stacker program to stack them into one image.
You can see in some of the shots above where i hadnt focused all way through the field of view and you end up with blury sections.
No problem, i can’t remember the brand tbh but its a compound biological scope, 10-2000+ magnification, great bit of kit with some nice attachments and features.
I do a lot of darkfield but thats mainly because its less stress on my eyes and i can watch for longer.
I watched a patch of light green leaf cells surrounded by dark leaf cells earlier and all i can think is i was watching nutrients being transferred from the surrounding cells because little by little the light cells popped and turned dark before blending in with the rest of the cells around them like nothing had ever happened. Ive never seen this phenomenon before but im on a mission now to get it on film
Got a couple of 50+ shot images im working on so hopefully have them uploaded tomorrow if i can get them looking good

Fascinating. Cheers for sharing dude.
