Feeding myself to the plants
Just wondering what the organic growers do with their finger nails, hair, dead skin, bogies and any other parts of them that fall off or even shoot out of them . If plants like decaying things it makes sense to me that we shouldn't let our precious natural commodities go to waste

Re: Feeding myself to the plants
I dont think thats quite right tbh, plants dont like decaying things. It just happens to be that when things decay they can be turned back into food for the plants, imo its best to keep decaying things away from your plants, if you want to go down the route of decaying things to turn into food then you want a compost bin or better still a vermicompost bin.

Adding hair to compost or soil has benefits. Hair has high levels of nitrogen, it also contains oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and sulfur. If added to soil without composting it acts like a slow release source as it can take 2 years or more to fully break down.

Re: Feeding myself to the plants
Nice tip, you just jogged my memory of something else also.
You can use dog hair to protect crops from slugs, just put hair all around the base of a plant and the slugs wont cross it, the rougher the hair the better, I believe sheep hair is best but ive only tried dog hair and that works a treat

Re: Feeding myself to the plants
nothing goes to waste when it goes back into the cycle
worm bins will process most things; hair, nails, dirty tissues. you could even empty you vacuum cleaner into your worm bin if you are confident there are not many plastic contaminants
urine is personal choice (you cant get a disease from yourself tho), its been used for hundreds of years in traditional compost making and can be used fresh which has really high N content (around 12-1-1) or you can leave it in a seal container for 4 weeks and it balances out (closer to 4-1-1)
human shit i dont have a process for collecting or processing into a useable amendment, but there are lots of composting toilet designs out there if thats a path ya wanna take
