Insulating grow tent with Thermawrap/others

Post by wutang »

Hey all

Has anyone used this stuff before to insulate their grow tent? My tent is outdoors in the garage so I really need to insulate it. Not sure whether I wrap this around the outside or inside

https://www.toolstation.com/ybs-general ... ion/p90532

Or if anyone has used other stuff like boards etc would be good to hear or see.

Thanks

My shed is lined with that stuff. My floor is that foamy type stuff that slots together. then i have some carpet under the tent. some old carpet underlay covers three sides of my tent and an old duvet is slung over the top of all that. have always though about getting four pieces of kingspan 80x80x160 and boxing the tent in but havent done to date.
From the Garage of HMR
No Current Grow on, Point5 has the tent and is doing her lovely thing.

Cheers dude. Good idea with boxing the tent. I wouldn't mind if I was running a smaller tent but this 1.2x1.2m would be a challenge in the space its on. I might get some of this stuff and hold it together by foil tape on the outside of the tent

I'd go for the next one up Wu. The superquilt. It's amazing insulation, linked he loft with it in summer and as soon as it was on the temps dropped massively. They do it in smaller lengths.

I made my chamber with Reflectix brand insulation which I think is essentially what you have linked to there.

https://www.reflectixinc.com/

The other plus about using this product is it has flame resistant specs too so is “safer” than other types of fiberglass insulation. Especially in areas with electric and water.

Thats my 2 cents.

Dude rigid rockwool panels are cheap, fire proof, and good insulation. Also look at the aluminium three layer stuff that prevents radiant heat loss. I used that, roll insulation and rock panel instead of plasterboard in my workshop and it gets warm off body heat.

I have found no matter how much insulation you do it’s all pointless if you are running the extraction and pulling in cold air

Drugs and Alcohol are never the answer! Unless the question was “what am I doing tonight”.

Very true. I've got a fan controller that helps a little, so in my case it's reducing the amount of overall heat loss, and the amount of times the fan heater comes on
