The old girl past here MOT yesterday 😁 As she is gonna be on the road for another 12 months. Think I might get round to removing the egr valve, possible decat, remap & modify the gear linkage for a shorter throw. She's been standard for far too long.

If you're serious about modifying it, i have a couple bits of advice. 1st mods should be wheels, tyres and suspension before adding power, you'll be amazed at the difference decent wheels and tyres make on their own. After that, ADD BOOST!, de-cat (keep your cat for M.O.T unless you know a guy 😉) have fun emptying your bank account 🤣
Nah, I'm not serious about modding these days. I don't have the time or money. I'm a mechanic by trade, so I'm just looking to improve the drivability of it really. I`ve a couple of sets of wheels off my mk4 golf but I'm not sure if I wanna mess about with adapters to fit them. That then leads to needing to lower it & before you know it a couple of easy mods leads to a complete rebuild lol. Appreciate the advice though bud

"And brakes, you gotta have good brakes!"
In all seriousness though. One of the best mods I've done in the past, was fitting braided brake hose's.

Brakes AND bearings?? Careful, you're in serious danger of having a smooth & pleasurable driving vehicle

Wife's astra is like that at the minute. Would be better to put your feet out to use as brakes. Gotta do pads and discs today and possibly shoes on back.

I used to have a golf that you really could use like a flinstone car. There was a hole the size of a dinner plate under the drivers floor mat

It's economic, keep em goin man

Yeah I should have done shoes too, bill was mounting up though 🙈

Got suspension arm to do and get booked for tracking. I can hear a bush or two knocking about as well.

I'm hoping to keep her running for at least another 100,000

I reckon it had an engine rebuild on a insurance claim or something or a recovery although not on record! It had a new rail as that was spanking clean and new when I got it. So engine seems a good one. Had new boots too by looks of it too.
