Off Topic - Radiotherapy
A bit off topic from the greenery I know but,
Im doing a bit of research and wanted to ask if anyone has any real-world experience of Radiotherapy. The process, pre-therapy, side effects and synptoms of treatment, actual effectiveness etc,. that they wouldn't mind posting up?
cheers

Re: Off Topic - Radiotherapy
Had radio therapy for 25 days straight at 16.30 for half an hour. Didn't feel any side effects they zapped the lung area. As long as i had my spliff on the way home in the car (wife driving) i really felt nothing from it. Then every one is different seen people go in there the same time as me and then come out walking on sticks a week later. I think it depends on so many things. You also get to ring the bell at he end....Wooooohooooo

Re: Off Topic - Radiotherapy
I asked my urologist "do I have to ring the fucking bell?" Too American.

Did you have a mask fitted or similar fitted and any tiredness or soreness at all?
ahh yes the bell, good idea that, too many don't get the chance.
p.s, whats the initial referall like? Do they bombard you with tests and suchlike.

Re: Off Topic - Radiotherapy
No mask or shrouds made for me but i saw a lot of different types on the shelves. I had 3 tattoo dots put across my chest and then they would line me up in the cross hairs and zap. I didn't feel any tiredness or soreness. Always went in baked before treatment seemed to help me...

Top Batting @Rawreefer . Sounds almost like a walk in the park, with a spliff...almost.
I take it that you have been fine since then and no relapses?

Re: Off Topic - Radiotherapy
That was the start of the journey. After the chemo every Friday from 9-5 for 3 months and the radio therapy (Tommy the tumour) decided to stay and weighed in at 4cmm. They didn't know what to do, so they wanted to wait to see what would happen. Took myself of to the good ole USA to see the daughter quickly in the next 3 months and bob's ya uncle got another tumour called this one Terry. Terry weighed in at 4cm. When i got back the hospital decided to call it terminal, Tommy had also grown to 6cm. Started a trial drug to stabilise the tumours and at the same time started taking copious amounts of RSO. Finished the trial drug nearly 2 yrs ago and Tommy is now 1.1cm and Terry is 0.6cm...they have now moved the scans to every 9 months....

Did you wear a cold cap during chemo?
I want to wear one but they go to -40 and I don't know if I could handle that, but I couldn't handle losing my hair either.

Re: Off Topic - Radiotherapy
Terry and tommy eh ha ha, love it
Mine's Dave and is a mighty 14cm and growing, thing is, daves a shagnasty and has got loads of sprogs as well from 5-15mm lounging around in different rooms . Including that obnoxious little kid who thinks he's Einistein up in the library pmsl
Good on you though for catching it fairly early and 9 month checks is bloody good stage to be at. Keep doing what you're doing is what I'd say @Rawreefer
