Re: Aquafarm/Hydrofarm/plant!t Gemini
I used a modified aquafarm back in the day. Absolutely smashed it in there!

@KD
Was it a noisy thing to use?
How much of a problem is water temperature?
Would I need a chiller for this sort if thing?
Is it pretty much the same as a brummie bubbler?
How do you run it? Just leave the dripper on 24/7?

Re: Aquafarm/Hydrofarm/plant!t Gemini
Okay so I raised my top bucket up with pieces of 2x4 so I could fill the res deeper, drilled more holes in the top bit to let roots through easier and added an airstone...
Was it a noisy thing to use?
Not at all. I had to open the tent to hear it over the fan and that's hardly noisy either. It's walls are quite thick so there's no splashing noises really. Think of a flume in a water tank. It's that kinda noise.

Well, I live in the Canary Islands where its hot all the time and I didn't have any problems with pythium growing if that's what you're worried about. I added 3% H²O² every week to keep it clean though and kept it on a concrete floor so my water temps were around 20°C most of the time
Would I need a chiller for this sort if thing?
I never did. It's a self contained recirculating DWC system once modified.
Is it pretty much the same as a brummie bubbler?
I think so yeah. Don't quote me on that though.

Nooooo the roots like air. I ran my dripper ring for 15 mins every hour. If you add the airstone, then once the roots enter the res, you can turn the dripper off. I also added a small water pump to my drip ring btw. How the original one works is some sort of voodoo I can't wrap my head around but basically it uses an air pump to blow air down one tube which forces air and water up an internal tube so the water comes out sporadically when the drippers running. I couldn't replicate that to save my life cause I don't understand how it works but I found it better my way anyway.
A question you didn't ask was
Would I use one again?
Absolutely... In fact I almost did but decided to go with coco instead. Thinking about it now, I could have used both together really. Still might
