Re: Splitting up Diaries

Post by The Aspie Toker »

There are a few ways of gaming the system, but I am not going to say how.
Personally, If I have 3 seeds in one tent, either the same strain or different, I class that as one diary. Too much work to split them into different diaries - more so if they are the same strain.

However, as admin don't mind either way, then it's okay to do it whichever way suits you.

Being new around here and there being far more knowledgeable/ experienced folks around, I wasn't going to post. Sometimes though, the view of a new guy is a good thing.

I am not taking sides nor looking to create an argument.

I think the point system is a genius idea.

To me, a grow is either a seed/ clone or multiple seeds/ clones, germinated/ rooted, vegged and flowered together in 1 tent/ room. Doesn't matter if it is 1 strain or 20.

If them seeds/ clones are divided between 2 tents/ rooms, that would be 2 grows. 3 tents/ rooms, that would be 3 grows. And so on.

Now if it is a perpetual grow, each time a new batch of seeds/ clones goes into the tent/ room, that would be a separate grow. Don't matter if it's the same strain as previous or your introducing a new strain of 10.

Since this topic was posted, I can see how the system can be played/ abused.

As an example, I grow 1 plant in my tent ( 1 diary ). If I was wanting to play the system, I could germinate 11 seeds ( 1 that I wanted to grow, the other 10 ( possibly freebies ) that I have no intention of growing ). Create 11 diaries ( 1 for each seed ), collect the points for starting the diaries. After a few weeks of collecting points on all 11 diaries, I could cull the 10 I am not planning on growing and concentrate on the 1 seed I want to grow.
Along with having an additional 2000+ points for free, I would be clogging the forum up with worthless/ unfinished diaries.

That's my view/ opinion as a new guy around here and I hope it makes sense.
Everyone's input is wanted mate, thank you for the post. We are discussing it out back.

Many different ways to see what a grow diary is. There is not a specific criteria to say how you have to run yours. People have different ways of seeing things. I usually run my diary as one even if there are 3 different strains in there BUT I also see a valid point of splitting that into 2 or 3 different diaries. The reason behind that is simple - When someone on the internet searches for a strain, he would love to see the info about that strain only. Not having to browse through it all.

Gets the numbers up I guess. Sucks I missed out on having an extra 20 diaries started in the last few months, but I think I’ll just pop all of the seeds I don’t care about and start a diary for each since the end of the month and points get doled out soon.

Is that your main purpose @TTL ? To get all the points you can? I would appreciate if you pop in all your seeds and run detailed start to end diary on each and every one of them. But if you don't I can't keep up and let them abandoned then I'd imagine I can see points being taken away. The system is created to be beneficial for everyone in order to get some seeds here and there.

Everyone enjoys free stuff. Let's not abuse the system and let everyone be happy.

I’m going to grow them all out. There are packs in the store I’d like and ones I already missed that I easily could’ve had for diaries on here, but I didn’t have the points because I didn’t split my diaries up by seed. But, I’m getting on that now and there will be plenty of detailed diaries for you to read. Cheers!

I’m just curious about this. I see people doing different diaries for plants in the same grow, because they’re different strains, and I’m just curious if that’s cool? .
It proper does my napper in trying to follow those never ending perpetual grow diaries. I give up half the time and just look at picture's. I'm no fan of shit loadsa grows in one diary myself but tis up to grower at end of shift.

I do agree that one room no matter what strains or how many are in it, is just one grow journal, i really can`t see point doing a grow journal for 2 plants and one for another 2 in a 1.2meter square tent, that's just one grow imo but each to their own hey... 8-)

Keeno said it’s fine so it’s totally fine, but it’s really lame in my opinion to have different diaries for different plants in the same room.
Yes me thinks so as well.
