Drying and carbon filters

Post by Grumpy Toad »

I've used an inline fan and carbon filter, on low, in my tent while drying. A grow-bud that checked out my setup said that I am sucking flavor and aroma from my drying buds. Did a little research online and don't see anything definitive on whether or not this degrades the quality of your product. Mostly finding "bro-science".

Anybody have a source that's worth their weight?

Good vibes & Peace!

Personally, I'd guess that if the buds have let off that aroma into the air already, then the carbon filter wouldn't effect it. I call bollocks on this but who knows? I could be wrong.

Out of interest, ask your mate how you're supposed to dry buds without stinking out the neighbourhood

I'd be hard pressed to think he's right he may be thinking it would dry to fast but that shouldn't be an issue. It's fairly common to have low power exhaust to remove humidity and have another fan on low in the tent blowing against a wall or at least not pointed on the buds to encourage circulation of air to prevent mold and removal of humidity. If what he suggests was true then all outdoor grown weed would be flavorless due to the winds blowing on the plants every day. Just my opinion and experience, if there's proof otherwise I'd love to read it.

Pointing the fans directly at the drying buds can strip any flavaniods and terpenes.
So I would say this is just a little mistaken.

You need air flow to eradicate mould spores!

Nah mate. It's not like they have a certain amount of smell in them and the filters is sucking it out of them  Maybe it was misunderstanding and he was trying to say that drying it too fast can damage the smell.

Sounds like some ones talking shite, i never heard owt like it. I would think you run a bigger risk of losing bud to rot without a bit of air exchange in your room when drying, humidity is gonna be through roof, not only that does anyone believe this when in reality most will run the risk of getting a knock from oinkers or robbers cus stink is through the roof at this point in time. I`m calling "its a load of old bollox" on this one mate. 8-)

I'm with the crowd on this. Just had to throw it out for discussion. I've also seen some folks online, that are normally spot on with info, that support the carbon filter robbing theory.
