When it comes to making quality compost for themselves, there’s so much conflicting information out there that farmers are struggling to learn what materials, processes, inoculants, and decomposition times they need to get good results.
Since microbially rich compost is such an important ingredient for many growing operations, we’ve brought together some of the most experienced and knowledgable experts in the field to help to make sense of the composting methods and materials available.
On this panel, we were honoured to welcome three highly influential voices in the science of composting:
🗣 Adrienne Godschalx (@photosynthesoil), mentors students at the Soil Food Web School on soil biology restoration and student-driven research projects around the world.
🗣 Charles Dowding (@charles_dowding), an English geographer, is an award-winning organic gardener and developer of the “no-dig method”. He has written ten books and an annual calendar of sowing dates, runs a YouTube channel (Charles Dowding) with 43 million subscribers, writes for national gardening magazines, and gives talks and courses at home and abroad.
🗣 Troy Hinke, owner of @LivingRootsCompostTea and host of "What's Brewing? A Compost Podcast", began his career with soils and compost at @rodaleinstitute in Kutztown, PA. Serving as Rodale’s Compost Specialist, Troy worked side-by-side with Dr. Elaine Ingham performing experiments on large and small-scale agricultural production. Troy is currently consulting with growers and composters worldwide.
