Since I can't be growing in the spare room anymore and tents are pretty much a no no as well I'll be building myself a little cubby. The plan is to portion off a bit of the room with a plasterboard stud wall to create a space 190cm long x 80ish cm wide x 240cm high. This will be done inside a small box room with the rest of the room left intact so I wont be having curtains permanently closed (which drew suspicion from a nosey neighbour who started asking way too many questions).

I've got more than a few questions I'd like to put to the community regarding the build as I begin to gather materials, it'll be a little while before it's up and running and I'm going to take my time doing it.

Firstly its a south facing room gets the sun all day, should I be insulating it with kingspan or similiar?

where you going to pull new air from and where you going to exhaust the old damp air to ?

The space under the floorboards is 12 inches deep and runs straight to a vent which come out of the roof of the extension at the back of the house, so I was gonna pull air through there and exaust into another part of the house

can you get to the chimney mate ? the air which comes out the groom is damp so i'd want it exiting the house.

I'm with GF, it will be damp air. Can you not do it the other way round. Extracting air is always noisier than intake, so would be better to have a passive intake in the house and extract it out through the floor.

Tbh Nom if the room is in a house I don't see the need for the expense of Kingspan or Celotex. Unless this is a very hot room but even then that's more an air flow issue as I imagine the walls are brick?

If i was setting up in a normal household room id go for:

Then either paint white or kine with mylar.

I could deffinately do it the other way around with extraction but I've got two hopes of getting to a chimney and one of them's dead. The room does get pretty hot as its a terrace and the only brick walls are the ones seperating the house's the front and back walls are timber frame plasterboard/rockwool/felt/tile

I see, yeah celotex it then mate, better safe than sorry. My loft build I went ott but saves stress later.

I vent into the same room with my tent. Never had any issues with 'wet air' or rot.

My tent is currently in the hottest room in the house, south facing, sun blaring at the window now. Room is at 28*C and the tent is at 31*C. I reckon it's the hottest day of the year today.

I personally would just use some 3x2 and then whack plasterboard on the outside, joint it and paint it. Make it look like a fitted wardrobe or something.

Celotex/kingspan is pricey at the moment, save the pennies for some posh wardrobe doors.

I've still got 3 rolls of earthwool from the attic i haven't finished insulating yet, i can use that if it will do the job?

Should have said its a dark room for photography or if me depending on mood also may have said i worship devil up there and he dont like the light........lol
