Kinda new, but kinda old school....
I had a clone that I kept going for a dozen years, but that ended about 20 years ago (yes, I'm pushing 60 now). Now that things are legal, I decided to try my hand at another grow. Got some GDP seeds from a friend and started sprouting about a week after NY went legal. I now have a half dozen healthy babies that are a week from going into bud light. I USED to use flourescent bulbs back then but now things are more LED oriented. My question today is..... My babies are almost reaching the lights, do I raise the lights or is a couple inches ok to let them go without light burn during budding phase? The tallest one is being tied down to keep it from going into the bulbs (6- 40w LEDS). Should I raise the lights or tie the rest down to create a uniform canopy? Suggestions??

Hello and welcome to the forum. Some of them leds are powerful and most recommend minimum 30 inches distance from canopy. Depends how powerful your LED is really.

Re: Kinda new, but kinda old school....
You can do a bit of both if you feel need too, myself im all for a nice flat uniform canopy. I`m all for having lights as close as you can get them during flowering without burning plants personally speaking, well more or less, light levels drops dramatically higher they are. If you have them close just keep an eye on those leaves for dodgy looking marks and if so then just raise them a wee bit and see how you go. But both ways you mention or yes even a bit of both as said should work out fine.

I use LED and try keep the light height about 50cm from canopy. If any get roo tall I tie them. It works for me but it does depend in your lights
