Vegging and The Gas Lantern Technique
Happy Friday Stoners
Me being a tight fairy was thinking about using the Gas Lantern Technique for my veg tent as it's usually always on. End up saving 5 hours of light every day will reduce the cost of leccy quite a lot. But would the plants be as healthy? What is your thinking?
For those who don't know what The Gas Lantern Technique is here is some info:
The gas lantern technique’s mythology stems from the farmers of yesteryear. Wishing to scare off nocturnal pests in order to protect their precious crops, farmers would take gas lantern lights out to their fields in the dead of night. The bright objects would ward off invaders but also had a surprising effect on the crops themselves. It appeared that the vegetative state would be prolonged, resulting in higher yields and healthier plans.
Here’s how it works. Beginning in the vegetative state of the plant life cycle, lights are on for 12 hours, followed by 5.5 hours of darkness. Lights them come back on for an hour, with another 5.5 hours of dark after that. The cycle then repeats. This is in comparison to the traditional 18 hours of light followed by six hours of dark typically seen in marijuana grows.

Re: Vegging and The Gas Lantern Technique
Brave of you to give it a go bulls. I've heard that some strains just start to flower under it and others are fine and veg away no problem. This is all second hand info BTW. Never tried it myself.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: Vegging and The Gas Lantern Technique
ooops i should rephrase that bach ...i start them off under the 75 watter after they rooted for a week, then i veg them under 790 watts of I.S mixed lighting for 20 days or so then flip. 790 watts costs me about 12p per hour.
