Jiffy Pellets
Hey All
I know the jiffy pellets are a love or hate amongst us here.
I was wondering if there are people who use the pellets and put them under a light in a propagator as soon as they put the seed in. See my understanding is that they are in darkness when in the pellet about 1cm down and then covered, so as soon as they pop they have light right away.
I usually put the propagator in my airing cupboard but temps hit 26/27 in the dome..where as in my tent in the propagator they sit around 23/24c with a low powered led light.
Cheers
Wu

Re: Jiffy Pellets
I like to put them in the prop until they have surfaced then under a light, mainly to keep it from drying out accidentally.

Re: Jiffy Pellets
Prop in a cupboard under darkness until they surface then under the light, purely so they don’t dry out.

Re: Jiffy Pellets
Those have all popped after 4 days, I'm no expert for sure but seems to work. I mixed a little bit of biogrow and root juice then add 5ml of it to each pellet, pop a seed in then stand them up in a propogator under light, spraying water into the prop occasionally.
I soaked the seeds in water over night first...

Re: Jiffy Pellets
I myself use coco jiffys for taking cuttings for coco / water i soak them in a cf of 1 ph 6 then root them....if I was starting seeds I'd use the peat based ones as then the tap root has summit to chew on from birth, I buy them by the hundred, wutang my only advice is as soon as the seedling appears and its upright and has cotylons onnit get it out of the propagator otherwise ewe risk the seed damping off !!!! Good luck
great googly moogly!

Thanks for sharing. I had success before in my NFT days...and it was easy..but recently not sure if its my seeds or environment that has given me a tough ride with pellets. A royal bluematic has gone in yesterday..23/24c and 99% humidity in the propagatoe right now.
