Hempy bucket/ hydro help - root rot

Post by ohlordyeah_420 »

Hey guys - just a little advice/ reassurance I'm doing the right thing:

When feeding my hempys last night I noticed a slight rotten egg smell from the run off of one.
I'm week 3 of flower as of tomorrow.

Ph has been between 5.5 and 6ish.
I think the root rot is possibly from over feeding (not allowing enough oxygen into the rootzone).

My plan of attack is:

A. Use oxyplus every other feed plus a good flush using the oxyplus.

B. Use pythoff for the rest of the grow.

C. Maybe a flush with oxyplus and then start feeding with pythoff (I know you cant Use both together)

D. Something else one of you reccomends!

I've ordered both oxyplus/ pythoff and hydroguard (for next time) last night. So I have both options here by weds.

Cheers.

The best thing you can do at this point is to let your root zone dry out, in my opinion. Then start your treatments for the rot

Yeah I didn't feed tonight. I'll give them a bit tomorrow and then let them dry until weds when the silver bullet will turn up.
Be honest they all looked good tonight. Little buds have swelled over night.

Nice one josh.

If roots are stinking like bad eggs tis more than likely full blown root rot as you know. Simplist way to prevent that would be to water less and let them dsry out more between feeds, the hempy rezz doesn`t need refilling as soon as its empty otherwise roots will be sat in it constantly. I mean i grow in coco and perlite in standard 10 liter buckets watering every few days without need for hempy, so i could imagine if those pots were hempy grow pots then watering fully grown plants with a big root-ball every 3 days would work and much less for smaller plants, lift pots checks weights etc to see if they need a wetting. Summink to ponder on very much is watering frequency in hempy`s i can imagine. You could use the stuff you`vew mentioned as a preventative so it doesn`t happen as well as trying to treat it. My thoughts are rotten eggs/methane stinking roots then they`re well fucked and plants won`t do much at all.

I've used hempy buckets a few times and with a small 7l bucket I can go 3 or 4 days between water/feeds , Even in the final stages of flowering it's no more than every other day at most. Basically wait until I can pick the pot up easily with one hand .

Yeah I think was a bit keen on feeding everyday from running coco. Hopefully it's just the one and get through 7 weeks.
