More time with family...less with plants
Hey guys
I'm currently finishing my first ever grow in soil and fabric pots that are 16l each. Im using Biobizz Nutes and Soil.
I have a 1.2x1.2x2m tent.
I water every 4 to 5 days when they are almost dry. I wanted to take the next step up and try and automate the feeding.
Soil hasn't been that bad to me, considering its my first time. But I've heard coco is much better so I'll consider that too.
Ultimately I want a simple system, with the least amount of time required tending to the plants. I've heard that organic ferts like biobizz can clog up pipes and then also having the nute mix sat in the res isn't good either? I want to try and keep it as organic as possible.
I've looked at the Auto Pots which are gravity fed which seem like a good shout. Presumably they wick the water up from the bottom?
I only grow 2 plants max.
Ultimately I just want something thats going to be quicker than manual watering.
I have grown in NFT before but my environment wasn't good so although I had decent yield the plant was really stressed. Plus I just haven't got the time to dedicate to NFT atm.
Any tips or links would he appreciated.
Cheers
Wu

Beautiful, thank you @Paul_led. I can't believe I didn't do this when I started off. Theres so much knowledge and so many different ways of doing it. Just got to do a bit more research on using organic ferts in the system and whether coco works with it too. Seen a youtube vid and he lays pebbles before the soil so the soil doesn't sit in the nute solution

Re: More time with family...less with plants
I have read somewhere that organic feed can clog up the feed lines on the autopot system mate , I did have a blocked pipe on mine with canna coco nutes, but then again I’m a lazy git and didn’t rinse out or change the pipes in 3 grows and 9 months lol

Re: More time with family...less with plants
I use coco amd grow 2 to 3 plants at a time amd spend about 10 mins a day with plants.
Chopping is what takes me away from family but tend to do that when I kids are in bed.
Think its down to personal will power to how much time you spend with plants lol

Wilma is a great system for coco with very little maintenence. Rhizo system can also be set in a timer reducing the time needed in the groom.

Autopots with BioTabs and Coco. Don't even need to pH the water they get. Could theoretically set and forget if you don't want to add PK booster

Re: More time with family...less with plants
If you’re only having to water two plants every 4-5 days by hand that might be the least amount of time tending to the plants. With Autopots and automation you bring in the chance of pipes being clogged and whatnot, so you’re having to check stuff like that regularly and monitor your res.
