Led For 4x8 grow tent

Post by Sal_Capone39 »

Hi I’m wanting to try my first grow and have a 4ftx8ft grow tent but that’s about it . I’m wanting to get led grow lights but I’m not sure what size or how many I need for my space. Any advice on best budget brands would also be much appreciated. I’m Uk based.
Thanks

Hey @Sal_Capone39,

Welcome to GR420. If you are after LED then imo you are going to serious struggle to cover that space with decent lights that will do the job on a budget. To cover that space properly you are looking at over a grand with LED. Yes there are cheaper options in LED but the reality is they ate cheaper for a reason. Something like the @Invisible Sun ISH 530 will cover a 1.2 x 1.2 area properly, so you would need 2 lights of that type or similar.

2 of the above lights, 1 per 1.2 x 1.2.

Or 2 lots of the above lights but the 4 bar setup.

Its not cheap to do led properly. Again there are cheaper options but you pay for what you get and if you want to compete with HPS style lights then you need to have the right LED lights to do so.

I done a write up on a good set up to be self sufficient. I talk about how much light I think is best for a 1.2 x 1.2 setup in it and its scalable to your size tent: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5528

Myself and @GMO discussed HID and LED in a podcast and how much light is needed in our opinion for different stages of growth and different size areas.

4x8 with led , the lights alone can run you at least 1500-2k , not cheap like Keeno said .

2 hps 600 w or one with 2-265w High end led will do you good . Not a cheap game this lol

Yep, not going to be cheap at all. You can throw two 600W HPS in there for pretty cheap though. Maybe try that and see if growing is something you want to continue doing for awhile. Then at least you won’t spend two grand on lights you only use for a year.

Personally I think you're space is too big for a first grow.
Get a 2ftx 2ft tent and a 250w quantum board 4inch RVK fan and filter. That'll set you back about £450.
If you like the hobby you then start adding to the set up.
What ever you do don't buy complete kit's.
My two cents
