Seedling Starter Lights?

Post by Guest »

Hi Growers,

I am looking to set up a completely seperate seedling starter area.

Which are the best, yet most affordable lights to use?

Thanks in advance.

Id recommend a light ive not used myself. A T5 lighting unit will do lovely for a dedicated seedling area. Either that or a LED that dimmable.

I'snt that light an vivarium or aquarium sort of light? Yeah a have wandered if I can dim my TS600 with a dimmer unit, not sure. Means I'd have to upgrade my light.

Aren't CFL's any good?

Hey Rick this what I use.. it's adjustable which is handy.
Works a treat in the GQ60.
It draws about 50w. You can get the light really close.
I kept clones in small pots for months under it.

Yeah I won one of the GQ60 tents. That's what I am thinking. I then want a third dry tent. Nice one, another option :-)

You can daisy chain a T5 or plug them together to make a longer light. Very versatile and cheap as chips to run and buy.
Can't see the point in buying a light you'll have to turn down.
Have a great Christmas mate

2ft T5 is perfect for plants up to about 6". They give of a really nice full spectrum and seedlings love em. I wouldn't use anything else now :)

Nice one, thank you good people.

Does the 2ft versions tend to be good on power then. Take it theyre only a few watts or so?

The 2ft T5HO sunblasters are 25w per tube. I regularly grow 20 cuttings up to about 6" no problem under 2 of them.

These were excess cuttings that were under two for a few weeks. As you can see there's not a lot of stretch and they're happy as a pig in shit.
