Reflectors

Post by wutang »

Hey all,

I've got my 600w hps in a 1.2x1.2x2.0 tent and have a standard reflector. Would I benefit from a different type of reflector? Others have mentioned parabolic reflectors. What's everyone's thoughts?

Cheers

yes definite advantage to be had with either parabolics or adjustawing type reflectors, more light towards the plants and less to the side walls of the tent imho.
i use adjustawings personally.

i found the parabolics bulky and just got in the way a bit more, but they work well and give a decent spread of light, even if they are a pain in the arse to put together

Yes , as per our convo yesturday .

With a 4ft tent , you would want a 42" reflector at naximum . Reason is to allow airflow to go up wards . Any larger and that heat will stay trapped at canopy level

pretty much every parabolic runs hps vertically.
standard shades lose loads of light out the sides due to thier smaller size.

yes precisely , i had a big horizontal cool hood 600w hps and i couldnt quite cover a 4x4' area . 3x3 was more fitting imo .

hirizontal do throw out more LUX but its concentrated in one spot , parabolic all the way
