Dry trim / wet trim?
Hey GR420
Hope all is good in your worlds.
What are your thoughts on this?
I've always wet trimmed before hanging to dry but recently read that wet trimming can burst some trichomes losing terps/potency.
Also read that as the buds dry the trichomes get a little tougher and less prone to bursting and dry trimming makes for a longer dry period which in turn makes for a better cure/potency.
So the questions are,
What are the pros/cons for dry trimming? And
Can you dry trim and still use the trim for hash?
Any thoughts/opinions gratefully received!

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
I know dry trimming is proper hard work and I tried it twice and won't be trying it again.

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
Thanks Marcus mate, I'm certainly not cash cropping so figured I'd try your method. Like the idea of a longer dry. CheersMarcus wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 8:28 amBest way I found, take all the big fan leaves off and hang the whole stalks up.
Then dry trim when taking buds off stalks after a week or 2, plonk them in jars as you go.
Most of the trim will just crumble up, I barely need to actually trim it.
Easiest way to trim in my book.
But if you're cash cropping and after 'bag appeal' wet trim it.
PS - yes I sling all my dry trim and crumbs in the freezer and hash them. Less chlorophyll in them, so I can push the washes a little linger and do less.

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
Ive done both ways and both times my weed gets me smashed i wouldn`t worry about it too much mate. I use a bowl trimmer and lots say it rips alot of trichs away, am i bothered, am i heckers like cus theirs a shit load more frosty goodness inside buds than on outside edges. Bud always stinks nice no matter what way i do it too. :)

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
I only chop one plant at a time and copied Marcus when I first joined her and still do the same now. Wet trimmed once and honestly never again for me

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
I used to wet trim but now I dry trim as it took so much more effort but I can honestly trim with my fingers mostly making it pretty quick but I’m thinking of getting a bag type trimmer that’s perfect for dry trimming too

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
I'm going to try my first dry trim this time around. Get shot of big fan leaves and leave the suggar daddys attached. Love the tip in regards to when dry trimming, then straight into jars. No wasting time wet trimming then drying then cutting some more then in jars. Little tips like this really help us newbies so thanks :)

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
I wet trim. I use a bowl like @2-Scoops. More through convenience and speed but the dry trims ive done ive not noticed much difference in quality.

Re: Dry trim / wet trim?
I've done a couple of 9oz plants wet trim by hand and that always tires me out a lot and took a lot of time. These two are soil grows so not as big as my previous monsters in NFT so hopefully by hand should be fine. Plus I have to factor im drying in the shed. Lets hope I don't mess this dry up haha.
