Post by Redz Medz »

Hey all,

magnesium defficiency and they look underfed.
it also looks like your temps might be a bit low, red stems, but it depends on strain.

add some cal mag and feed them at about 1.2 1.4 ph to 5.8, should sort it.

Cheers @bigbadbillybob i knew i had to up the cal mag just trying not to overdo it, same with the nutrients as ive found they are so easy to overfeed. Started off at 1/4 strength nutes first then upped it to 1/2 strength and as you can see started getting nute burn.
Ive never had the twisted ends of the leaves before or the little yellow spots/blemishes on some of the leaves, any idea on those?

the yellow spots are magnesium defficiency, the twisted leaves are usually ph related, but you didnt say what ph they were getting so i cant say for sure.

when you say 1/4 strength or 1/2 strength, this can vary wildly depending on you base water readings. i take it you dont have an ec pen or ph pen? in which case its not gonna be an uphill battle, its gonna be like climbing everest in yer slippers.

Ah fair enough @bigbadbillybob they just looked different to all the pics of magnesium difficiency i was looking at.
As there in coco ive had them bang on 5.8 but the ec has been low at 0.70 with 1/4 strength nutes.
i know its meant to be higher but it just gave them nute burn when i had it that high before.
Cheers 😀

ah right if the ph was bang on the leaf twist must have been calcium related, (a by product of the mag def) so i would add some cal mag to the mix.
yes your feeds do sound a bit hot, but im used to hydro, i would up it for a few days and see if the centres of the plants darkens up a bit. if it does you know you're on the right line.
hope you get it sorted

I'd let the pH drift a bit. I found out drifting 5.8-6.1 in veg keeps the plants very very happy. What nutrients are using and what's your background water ec?
