Do you need a resevoir for dwc?
Is it necessary, I was planning on buying 25 L buckets with lids, cut hole place netpot and airstone use pump and change the water once a week is that possible?
If so what are pros/cons compared to a reservoir?

The bucket is your rezz, The bigger 40 to 50 litre storage containers i would think will be much better all round than buckets, you could then saw a quarter of lid of and tape it back, then you just lift that for testing ferts strength and refilling ferts

It just makes things easier cus rootage will soon fill a 25liter (5 gallon) container, not only that you have more control over ph running with a bigger rezz it should be more stable over time.
This guy knows his stuff and is a pretty cool dude who`s brains you could pick for jobby, but check his grow out here. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=7667

Re: Do you need a resevoir for dwc?
I agree with 2 scoops buddy I’ve ran 25l buckets and they can produce some great results but I found they can run a 25l res dry in a 4 days and more roots more fruits come in to play too I’m just headed back to dwc myself and have got the iws oxypot xl+ 6.5l pot ,70l res setup for one plant in a 1.2 area .. stable water makes for happier girls

Glad someone told me this, how often do you think it will need changed with the Ikea one, that just looks built for diy hydro lol.
Also how much would I need to feed per water change per bucket, and better yet how much canna a+b, liquid silicone and pk boost should I need to buy?

Basically every few weeks just pump out whats left in tub and refill with a fresh mix, but inbetween top it up with fert strength your feeding at when it`s dropping low and check ph every 3 to 4 days.potentcheesydick wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 4:34 pmGlad someone told me this, how often do you think it will need changed with the Ikea one, that just looks built for diy hydro lol.

Your gonna need an EC pen for measuring fert strength and a PH pen as well, either that or you could just wing it, but tbh summink like an essentials ec pen would last you a lifetime if ya looked after it and growing in water you really need to know strength.

2-Scoops is the guy to listen to. He’s one of the few I’ve seen willing to help out new growers who are trying to bite off a little too much. He’ll get you through your grow if you listen to him. Best of luck man!

Re: Do you need a resevoir for dwc?
Think it would be wise to get some sort 70L mixing bucket to pre make each feed, that sounds a lot easier than changing it weekly, is an ec pen the same as a tds meter? If so I wouldn't chance it without one , need a better ph pen that doesn't need calibrated with a sachet of stuff after a few feeds, some man

Re: Do you need a resevoir for dwc?
No need to change it weekly every few weeks works for a complete rezz change and just top it up inbetween to right fert strength. I use a big 100ltr i think it is plastic £5.99 black bin from wilko`s to pre mix ferts that lasts me 2 to 3 weeks, but i grow in coco.potentcheesydick wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 6:08 pmThink it would be wise to get some sort 70L mixing bucket to pre make each feed, that sounds a lot easier than changing it weekly, is an ec pen the same as a tds meter? TDS and EC pens measure fert strength yes.
