Re: Trimming / Drying Environment

i do mine similar to bulls, trim everything into bowl trimmer and on to drying nets, aim for 18 degrees and rh of 50 ish
no oscillating fan, just the extract fan on low. i aim for a long, slow dry, i believe it keeps the stink better
a week to 10 days later they should be right, if not i add a oscillating fan or a fan heater on low, to lower RH.
put em in plastic boxes, check in a day or so, if they are damp, back in the nets.
sometimes they will feel dry but when they are in plastic the moisture from within the buds is drawn out to the surface, so they need more.
then i burp them for a week or two.
and they stink.

Hey bro,

I've done both wet and dry trim. These days I prefer the dry trim myself. When its time for harvest I pluck all the fan leaves, separate and hang the branches from 10-14 days in my old 0.6m 0.6m dry tent in the dark. I try to keep the humidity in the lung room around 50-60%. Sometimes it creeps up to 65-68%. I find the cooler temps the better, winter harvests seem better. Then I dry trim, I use a trim bin with a screen to collect the trichs for making pressed hash afterwards. These days I keep a decent amount of leaf on my buds to protect the flower, I feel that is preserves the flower better...but that's just my take.

When I did wet trim, I was always happy with the result. But right now I prefer the process outlined.
I'm scared of mould thats why I have always wet trimmed. But might try that. I have a rvk 4" and rhino pro in my 0.8x0.8x1.6m tent with one of thoss dimmer controllers but it still over dries it every time..maybe I should get a proper variac controller or whatever they are called
We have the size size tent, i leave my extraction on the same as it has been on during the grow. i take off all the big fan leaves and most of the smaller ones, just leaving the sugar leaf on. then i hang the branches from my net for between 8 and 12 days until i get a nice snap on the branches. We do then trim up the sugar leaf before we dry and pop it in a bag in the freezer for a hash run when we have enough. Seems to work for us :idn:
Do you have the same extraction too?

I thought of getting one of those bowl trimmers...any good?

kinda depends on how much you have to trim to be honest. if i just had 4 plants in a 1.2 square tent, i wouldnt bother, but for upwards of say 40 odd ounces, yeah definitely, it saves days. i pull all the big fans off first, by hand, then take all the buds off the stalk, by hand, then bowl trim them. the big fans will not go through the bowl trimmer, well, they might, but it will probs fuk it up short time.

Yeah man I have...be careful....rot is very possible
I initially dried on a rack but then it dried too quick, so I put them in a bag for a few days. I guess it comes down to all the other factors and conditions such as temp and humidity being the most important.

extraction wise its the same as my grow extraction because i dry in my grow tent(i have two tents connected to each other)
Sorry if I'm being thick, so you have a 4" rvk and rhino pro when you dry on full?

Not quite. In tent one the fan and filter are running, tent 2 connects via the built in socks to tent 1 so that it temt 2 is at a negative pressure. So 2 tents, one filter.

When the plant gets chopped we turn the ligjt off and hang the branches in the tent it grew in.
Gotchya, so basically reduces the rate of extraction in the drying tent. Thanks bud

Yeah I have a similar inline extraction fan to carbon filter setup on my drying tent. It seems to exchange the air sufficiently during drying to not get mold.
