Trimming / Drying Environment
I do it when wet..full manicure then hang small branches upside down in my 80x80x160 with 4" rvk and rhino pro with a standard light dimmer fan controller as low as possible..but I find it dries too quick and leaves it fairly dry on the out and slightly moist on the inside.

Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
That's what I've read too. I over dried rhe last one. Couldn't get the humidity to anything above 50/55%RH even with the humidity packs.Elijahgrowz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 7:49 amPersonally I take off all big fan leaves, but leave the rest cut the plant and hang it as is, sometimes I will do individual branches and hang them, but I do this from the stem so easier to hang. Leave them for anywhere between 7-10 days (or wait for the twigs to snap clean off) then jar up
It will always dry the outside first retaining moisture inside, this is when curing comes into play when you jar them the moisture from the inside will be spread to all parts of the buds (well this is what I believe)

Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
I've tried various procedures over the years. Trimemed all the colas and hanged them upside down..tried doing that with dry leaves tooo..tried cutting all buds to same size as running them through the bowl trimmer. Then they all go onto the drying rack.
Found the last method is working best to me. No difference in taste. Once they go on the racks and feel dry to me I get them in 10L storage boxes. That's how if any moisture is left it spreads equally to all of the buds and If needed I take them back out on the racks after a few hours. Sometimes I don't even use hygrometer to check the RH in the boxes..they just feel wet to the touch or too dry. But if you want to be pricese just add one and keep an eye. Once they are ready and showing contstant rh in the boxes I move them to my glass jars burping them daily. That's when the real process of curing begins and real stink starts to come round.

Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
I adjust my style based on the climate. If I'm in a humid period I trim all the leaf off wet but if we're in a dry warm period I'll leave the smaller leaves on until dry. But to generalise, I like a slow drying time of around 10 - 14 days before I start the cure process. The first few days I try to remove moisture fast. I'm trying to get it below 60% as this will help stop pathogens setting in. Unfortunately I don't have a moisture meter so I do this by guessing. Once that part is out of the way, I try and slow things down a bit. In reality though, it never goes that smoothly but the bud always taste great.

Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
I'm a newbee here just learning. This was how I did my 1st, and so far, only trimming job. It took mine 15 days till the branch would snap. It worked out quite well.Elijahgrowz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 7:49 amPersonally I take off all big fan leaves, but leave the rest cut the plant and hang it as is, sometimes I will do individual branches and hang them, but I do this from the stem so easier to hang. Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
Hey bro,
I've done both wet and dry trim. These days I prefer the dry trim myself. When its time for harvest I pluck all the fan leaves, separate and hang the branches from 10-14 days in my old 0.6m 0.6m dry tent in the dark. I try to keep the humidity in the lung room around 50-60%. Sometimes it creeps up to 65-68%. I find the cooler temps the better, winter harvests seem better. Then I dry trim, I use a trim bin with a screen to collect the trichs for making pressed hash afterwards. These days I keep a decent amount of leaf on my buds to protect the flower, I feel that is preserves the flower better...but that's just my take.
When I did wet trim, I was always happy with the result. But right now I prefer the process outlined.

Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
I'm scared of mould thats why I have always wet trimmed. But might try that. I have a rvk 4" and rhino pro in my 0.8x0.8x1.6m tent with one of thoss dimmer controllers but it still over dries it every time..maybe I should get a proper variac controller or whatever they are calledCave Hill Cole wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 1:06 amHey bro,

Re: Trimming / Drying Environment
A wise thing to be scared of. I use disinfectant wipes on the inside of the tent before I hang. Provided you keep the values of your room (temp and humidity) especially your humidity, in a reasonable range you shouldn't have any problems....provided the fresh bub your brining in to dry doesn't already have it. That's just 2 cents for what its worth
