We can get swept away by our thoughts,,or learn to step back and see them with clarity.

Re: Extraction mentor
Well when we tried to make it we used a rice cooker.
So we didnt decarb first, made the mix, strained it and then into the rice cooker on the cook setting. We filled it right up and let the iso evaporate off, this happened in a hour or so. At no point did it bubble until there was very little volume left, is that right? Because i was under the impression it should be bubbling the whole time. When there was about an inch left we added a few drops of water and continued to reduce it down. When it started to bubble it really stank of hash/weed, my mate provided a thermometer which didnt work so i cant say how hot it all got but the rice cooker ranges between 100 and 110c. When it was really nice and thick and oil looking we took a bit in a pin and put a flame too it, it didnt immediately ignite the oil but did so eventually if you held it there, so can i assume no iso is left? Afterwards we didint know if it had decarbed so we put the oil in the oven at 120c for 30 mins to make sure. Its in a couple if syringes now and we got maybe 3ml of oil from 62g of trim. My additional questions are -
How do i make sure no iso is left in the oil?
Is the oil i made ruined?
Was my method floored?
I thought it woukd take alot longer, should it have?
Would a different method be better in the future?
I did alot of research before this was attempted but found alot of conflicting information. Before I start turning all my bud into oil i need to get it right. My aim is to stop smoking as much as possible and to just use the oil to get me there.

Re: Extraction mentor
@Keeno mentioned doing a tutorial.
*edit* but that might be for Bubble Hash - but he's a talented guy so we will just get him to do both.

Re: Extraction mentor
jeff ditchfield has the best instructional video on making oil for cancer that i have seen, its on yootioob, worth a look.
you will have to shell out on some specific gear, but it sounds like you are in it for the long run so it shouldnt be an issue.
and also note that his extractor hood is medical grade, if yours is the kitchen cooker, its possible that it can ignite the fumes, unless you are careful.
its worth a look.

Re: Extraction mentor
How I make my oil...
Decarb first
Freeze the weed, ISO, funnels, jars the lot for at least 12 hours
2x quick washes. Mix with a fork for 30 seconds and let sit for 3 mins total.
Run it through cheese cloth then filter with coffee filters. Filter in the freezer if possible.
Once completed I use a double boiler. A flat bottom wok and sauce pan
Boiling water in the wok, saucepan on top and pour in small amounts and boil off. I use an electric camping stove. No naked flames! Don’t use your kitchen extraction and have plenty of ventilation.
I use 99.9% food grade ISO. Food grade doesn’t mean it’s safe for consumption!
