Re: To scrog or not to scrog
get yourself some steel grid, cut to size. it wil be the best scrog investment you make. nail it to a timber frame, which you can drill holesin the corners, the same diamater as your tent poles in.
then just slip the poles through the holes and it will be easy to move up and down if you need to, and the plants wont go anywhere. it also helps keep the tent from sucking in as much with negative pressure.
thats what id do anyway.

Re: To scrog or not to scrog
I'm on my 1st SCROG and already, I'm not going to look back! I'm only just starting the training but it's already showing how ig can be beneficial.wutang wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 8:06 amMorning All!
I am beginning my grow in 2x 16l fabric pots in a 1.2x1.2x2.2m tent..
This is my first soil grow and also in this size tent. Previous have been in NFT.
I've seen a lot of scrog set ups, but never actually done one.
Should I do one considering size of the tent or should I just let them grow out considering I have a 2.2m high tent?
Thank you
I would say try LST, Topping and other training techniques 1st if you haven't already?
Basically its just spreading the bud sites out over a bigger surface area to give you an even canopy of flower.

Yeah I'm so envious of those scrogs too! Looks beautiful when done right..Cave Hill Cole wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:30 amGood luck mate! I'm always so envious looking at a well done scrog. I tried it a couple of time and failed with it. I tend to want to grow multiple strains at the same time. That can be hard in a scrog, they appear to be much better for mono-croping. I don't think I'm patient enough for them either haha.
I use to use bamboo stakes. These work..but they are bloody dangerous. Many a stoned night, I nearly took my eye out peering into my tent. Now I use atlas plant trainers, they are expensive...but the bees knees.

Re: To scrog or not to scrog
I've done a lot of searching up online and persons articles about SCROGS are all very varied, all in their own subtle way. Some with photos and some not with completely different explanations.
I also found many photos online all look different, but one thing I noticed is all the buds all looked nice and BIG despite whether it looked like a support net SCROG, SOG or whatever you call it or how tidy they were.

Re: To scrog or not to scrog
They are super cool...kinda of like a giant lego set for plant training. They are movable and adjustable, so even in flower you can adjust your training. Bit of a bummer though...I heard this week that the owner is shutting down his business

Re: To scrog or not to scrog
Nope never tried any of those, only ever grown in nft in a grow cupboard..weren't great due to space and it growing bushy and getting stressed.DIY.Rik wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:43 amI'm on my 1st SCROG and already, I'm not going to look back! I think I'll read up on lst, and work my way up. Thanks

Re: To scrog or not to scrog
Me neither, haven't got a clue. Like I said, its either by the rule book or everyone else if doing it different or wrong lolElijahgrowz wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:05 amThis is very true. I look at mine and then look at some others on here and I'm like wow mine is beginner compared.DIY.Rik wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:54 amI've done a lot of searching up online and persons articles about SCROGS are all very varied, all in their own subtle way. I brought I net, topped once at 3rd or 4th node, and stuck the net on and just kept tucking it under, topped a few more times and carried on tucking under net (no idea what I'm doing).
Then when it came to flip I thought damn this is way to compact so went to town on her defol and cut loads of bits off that wouldn't get light. I must say she's looking OK at the moment, but have no idea how she'll turn out
I've gone completely against the grain and not topped at all. F€@£ it, thats how you learn and discover new ways.
I'll soon train them around the net and then flip them.
There is more than one way to skin a cat!

Re: To scrog or not to scrog
I've given up scrogs. I cant get to all sides and when I finally cut them out all the back plants had lower buds that were pale and started to hermie. If I had a room I'd do it for sure but in a tent I do the similar to bulls and top, lst and supercrop them and try and level them out.
