Drying

Post by chronicthehemphog »

Ok guy's so I'm lay on my bed chilling after a spliff and was thinking about drying (widow's coming down soon) and I just thought, has anyone tried using rice to speed up the drying process? Ie hanging some buds in an airtight container with some rice? Just thinking if it's worth doing a few buds to hurry it up a bit so I've got smoke while waiting for the rest 🤷🏼‍♂️
A friend in need is a friend indeed but a friend with weed is better :Stoned:

The slower the dry the sweeter the fruit.

for the amount of rice your need for the area covered..... i dont think its gonna be worth while tbh mate. if thrying to reduced moisture in a really small area thats where rice usually works or is recommended

chemical dehydrators or a DIY hehumidifier make with rock salt would maybe work better. however low and slow is the aim of drying. as long as your out of the range of molds your all good

Oh yeah I know the slower the better but was just thinking for 3-4 buds just to get a bit of a headstart with some, don't want to do anything to harm the buds, ie, radiator or some form of heat, was just thinking of a bag of rice or something similar in a container with the buds to try and draw as much out as possible

Any time I have ever tried to rush the dry I have always paid the price.

With that being said...sometimes you just some smoke ASAP. If you willing to put up with a lesser quality because you need it now...take your buds and wrap them in newspaper. They will dry in 2-3 days. The newspaper works as a desiccant and sucks the moisture out. You can also take a paper bag, cut out a thick piece of cardboard the same size as the base of the bag. But the cardboard in the bottom of the bag, then your buds, then a couple balls of bunched up newspaper, then roll the bag up. In 2-3 days you will have some flower to smoke .

I would only do these quick dry methods if I wanted the flower ASAP and was willing to put up with a lesser final product.

My experience using the newspaper was different. I ended up with a couple big mouldy buds

Probably due to the size of your buds - You should grow smaller ones - I find an uneven canopy helps with this ;o)

Interesting? How many buds were you putting in together? Haha yeah maybe you just had some super fat dense nugs ;-) good problem to have cuz!

I was only ever doing between 2-5 of my lesser buds, or popcorn. Not big colas.

I only ever used this as a "down & dirty" method when I wanted to super rush dry...and not use the oven of microwave like a real numb nut.
