most cookers are wired directly, they don't have 13 amp plugs. if you look behind the cooker you will see it going into a box on the wall, its not plugged.
Ours has a plug. I switched it off once, then wondered why the gas igniters weren't working. That's when I realised it was for the cooker.

Electric ovens will be on a 32A circuit most probably but this is gas so only the grill is electric and therefore most likely 13A for lights, ignition, grill and timer. Makes no difference if its hard wired or not... Find the switch.. Switch it off.

Its a grill element thats faulty... Piece of pish to change, just make sure its switched off and theres no concerns.... Its not like you can wire it wrong either.

Could literally talk you through it Aspie and theres plenty of youtube vids on how to and if you think you split something on the burners then defo try compressed air to clean it. Maybe im just tight and wont pay someone lol

Good luck with it either way :)

I have it turned on atm and it hasn't tripped.
I've looked and there's no make/model visible from the front. No idea if it's mentioned behind the cooker. Buggered if I am going to move it to find out.[

Thank you for your help though. I do appreciate it. If you knew me, you'll understand why it's a good idea for me not to fiddle with it.

It turns out the make is "Currys Essentials."
He came today and have to move it from the wall to see it. £50 so far. Maybe another £30 if he can get the part.

£50 call out fee. £58 for the part. He needs to order it as it was more expensive than he thought. It's not like big brands where parts are generic.

over £100 all in...shame none of live us close enough to you mate. The element price varies for those types of ovens...depends on the wattage, shape and type installed (oven/grill or just grill). The most expensive one I have seen is £66 and the cheapest is about £30.

At least it gets it sorted for you and then no issues with landlady. good luck dude!

It was a bit of a shock. I was hoping it would be around £70-80, but at least I'll be alive afterwards.
