Hi, new here myself so sorry I’m just chipping in. I’ve struggled with thrips A lot in the past. Hard to treat with one type of intervention alone.

The neem oil works as a foliar spray on the adults and first stages of their growth where you notice damage to your plants. Problem is They’ve then dropped into the substrate for another couple stages of development (which brings on a new wave after the spray alone only gets the ones above ground) until adults when they come back out to breed and you see them flying around. I always add nematodes to the substrate to catch them in all stages of development. Order some neem oil or a plant soap spray and a pack of nematodes or two depending on the amount of substrate you have. They’re not expensive, around £8 a pack.

I would give two doses of nematodes (over a fortnight you would need to buy a fresh pack as they don’t last long once opened) using the oil spray at the same time to catch any stragglers.

Would work as a preventative if your problem continues in the future. The nematodes just look like a paste that you mix with water and soak the substrate. They come in boxes for all kinds of pest control Including another favourite of mine gnats grrrrr, make sure you get the ones suitable for thrips. • Edited •Apologies, the ones for thrips are for gnats as well. It’s nemasys fruit and veg protection on eBay if you want to look. •Edited•

Fingers crossed you sort the invaders and good luck with the grow

I’ve never seen the no pest strip off before keeno mentioned. Good to know others have had success with other products. The neem oil does stink I agree ha
