There's calcium carbonate in the water, but it wasn't that which caused the white blobs on the leaves. It 100% came from the aloe vera.

Wow, I always thought aloe vera wouldn't leave a residue. I'll stay away from the aloe then. GMO was talking me into that shizzle this morning lol. calcium carbonate / calcium bicarbonate / limestone are all the same thing.

I've just bought a tub of the stuff IntegraJosh posted a link too. Looks amazing. Packed full of bacterias that keep mold and mildew away as vitamins, trace elements, aminos, polysaccharides and lots of stuff. I'll open a thread once it arrives and I've used it throughout a grow.

Don't forget there's Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) which is what threw me when you said bicarb.

Have you tried giving your plants an Aspirin for plants? Worth looking into.

Interesting, maybe the aloe vera didn't have enough salicylic acid to make as dramatic change. Why were you spraying baking soda? Powdered mildew or something?

It was a good sized leaf and I blended it as much as I could with the water. Then poured into a sprayer. No idea why it did what it did, but won't be doing it again and now have a load of aloe vera plants that I don't want.

Yes, for Powdery mildew. It was extremely humid for long periods of time in the pollytunnel one year.

I'm going to sound like GMO a little but try the natural mistik mate. The bacteria you introduce with that spray will munch up and botrytis or mildew spores.

The Bacillus amyloliquefaciens kills mildew and the bacillus subtilis kills botrytis. You have to cultivate the bacteria though so that means spraying daily for a few weeks then you can ease off a bit.

It was only for one year, and I haven't grown in the Polly for the last 2 - 3 years. My growing days are coming to an end, but the info will help others.

i usually do it only with rain water, by dark, in veg phase, depending of the humidity, is good to know more about it
