I have some Egyptian walking onions growing. I'll have some bulbs (sets) ready in a few months or less if anyone in the UK would like some.

No problem, point 5. I'll give you a shout when they've matured.

I bought 3 sets for Β£3 a number of years back. One I lost somewhere, the other two I planted and left them to do their thing. They say they normally don't grow the heads the first year, but they did. I took those bulbs and planted them. They overwintered in the soil. Over the years they multiplied and I gave a shitload away to members.

I forgot to top them to prevent them making more bulbs, so I have a lot more bulbs to give away or sow.

I did a test the other year where I cut off the head of bulbs and planted them. They took well. The other option is to split them into individual bulbs and plant. Both methods work.
