Lifting soil beds
Watsup everyone
At my witts end here and really hoping you can help me out
So I was lazy when I designed my current set up, I knew I should have lifted my beds off the ground but held it off.
Result was soggy bottoms the entire grow, we all know how great that is for our plants
Easiest solution wood be to slide some 4x4 inch boards underneath the sides and center and call it a day, but I'm worried that the areas touching the wood won't drain properly and I'll have the same issue I have now
I'm sure it will be better but not ideal
Only other option is to drop 100$ on a 3x3 flood tray and then lift that off the ground.
I'd rather not do this, I'm so sick of dumping money into this grow
What do you guys think? Any better ideas?
Should I just go with the boards and stop making my life difficult?
Looking forward to your suggestions
By the way, these things are heavy as fook when filled and watered, I'm guessing 300 lbs. Not counting plant material. So whatever I use it has to be strong
Thanks

Re: Lifting soil beds
Here's an idea that might work. How about using some 2" or larger PVC pipe. They would only have contact at two points on the top and bottom. Also you wouldn't get mold growth like on wood.

The other day when I was high I solved one of the world's greatest problems.
Unfortunately five minutes later I forgot what I was doing.

Hey tommy I was thinking that also but it's a pain to find elbows or t's that big. I'd have to special order them where I liveTommyT wrote:Here's an idea that might work. But that might be my only option. Thanks man
And good point about the wood
Edit: nevermind bro, I found some might get it built tomorrow

Re: Lifting soil beds
I don't think it's impossible. But make the mistake of overwatering 1 time and it's game over the roots just can't soak up the water on bottom before the top and middle goes dry.GMO wrote:there goes my dream of a no run off system

I just want the added assurance that everything is evenly watered, so I'm going to have to elevate them somehow. I'll keep you posted on how it goes

Re: Lifting soil beds
This is way too expensive, I'm going with a shit load of 8x8x16 inch cinder blocks. They're 1$ a piece
It would cost me 100$ to make stands out of pvc.
Keep in mind I have (2) 3x3 beds that need lifted
Hopefully the roots don't mind the wet spots here and there, better than what I have now I suppose

Re: Lifting soil beds
Well my thinking is just one more same size tub you have but just raised inside slightly using the oven tray risers/coolin trays giving you enough room to just remove run off, this of course would only mean raising the bed by a couple of inches most and cost effective
So these at the bottom of the first tray with the bed tub placed on top ???

Oh I see you want to make a stand. I was thinking more like this just to get air flow and drainage.integrajosh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 1:20 amThis is way too expensive, I'm going with a shit load of 8x8x16 inch cinder blocks. They're 1$ a piece
