Nute Needle

Post by anova.330 »

Nute Needle is, basically, an oversized syringe to extract nutrients from bottles and deploy them to your mix. Essentially, the tip is 14 inches long with a 100ml syringe capacity. At $30 USD, you could say it's over-priced. Still though, it is well built.

It's not going to survive a nuclear winter, but feels like it will last with proper care. I don't intend on washing it or taking it apart.

There is a learning curve and some tricks to using it. To prevent the nutes from dropping out of the syringe, you need to "over-draw" the syringe. That is, draw to the desired level while the tip is submerged. Once you draw your nutes in the syringe, back off the nutes and draw air into the syringe. Right now, that seems to be the trick to avoiding nutes escape/spill from the syringe.

Nice looking bit of kit. A cheaper option is a plastic syringe and a length of fish tank airline, mines measured out to hold 2ml giving me 22ml in total, works a treat. The syringes don’t last forever but they are cheap to replaceImage

That’s a great idea too and I have a ton of that fish line air hose.

The other option is to use a bung.

I use one for my oramorph but not all syringes fit it.

Thanks, I do have some uses haha, it also works with different size syringes and different lengths of tube but a 2ml hose on a 20ml syringe works best for me.

Am I right in thinking you stick that in the top of the bottle so it slows down the flow as you pour it?

If you have the correct size syringe, then you put the bung into the bottle. Then insert the syringe into the bung - turn the bottle upside down and then draw on the syringe until you have the required amount. Then turn the bottle the correct way up and remove the syringe.
