Invisible Sun X Bar Review

Invisible Sun X Bars

I went into this with mixed emotions, on the one hand I’ve been stung with led and all the hype before, plus the price tag on some of these lights is pretty huge for the mere peanuts I earn each week.
On the other hand I seen the results people are getting on the forum and just knew I had to get some of that action.

I remember years ago when led grow lights first came about and the manufactures were claiming they could replace hps, got myself a mars hydro and after not having much luck got a vipar, both gen 1 with old school led’s like you’d find in old school electronics.

I found they could not compete with a 400w hps and they ran so hot there just have well been an hps in there, that moment of realisation when you figure out it was all lies from the manufacturer to sell more products, I remember in the poorly written Chinese translated instructions there was a bit they forgot to take out before printing, it said “if led doesn’t work tell customer it is uv led” or words to that effect, just lies upon lies.
Ever since that I’ve been put off led and left with total distrust in the rumours that surrounded them, oh my god things have come a long way now though.
These new Samsung led’s are unreal, they produce so much light it makes your eyes hurt and they run so cool, so cool in fact that the x bars don’t even need cooling fans, due to their solid aluminium construction they can dissipate heat so efficiently that when you touch the unit after 12 hours of use at 80% it’s still relatively cool.

The most impressive thing is the power consumption, before at peak flowering I was running a 600w hps, 4ft t5 in the veg tent, fans drawing over 100w at idle, that was quite a lot of power consumption at over 1000w at times.
Now with the xbars at 80%, v bars at 45% and fans running I’m drawing 620w from the wall, basically I’m running my whole operation for the cost of running a 600w hps on its own, that’s incredible really when you think about it, especially when the plants are actually thriving under the x bars.
Since writing that I have lowered the x bars just above the canopy and dimmed them to 50%, with all 4 lights and the fans running I’m drawing 420w from the wall, the whole of my grow op running on the same amount my 400w hps and ballast would have used. Just let that sink in for a moment.

I’m currently growing the second round of blue cheese from some cuttings, the buds are dense and covered in crystals(fair enough that happens under hps anyway) but the smell is so much nicer this time around, really sweet and pungent, I think that’s down to the lower temperatures in there now, less volatile terpenes aren’t boiling away like they would with hps.
As for the yield it’s hard to say at the moment but I’m looking to at least match what I got with hps last time round with this cheese, it’s not the best grow for comparison though due to having to move room and missed the opportunity for scrogging.
Next time round I’m expecting to smash it with the x bar though in a scrog, x bar inches from the canopy and dimmed right down, going to be on the ball with it this time.

That’s enough waffle anyway here is some light porn for you.

If that didn’t get your juices flowing then I don’t know what will.

Nice review mate 8-) I want one of these but they are now £600 and idk how I'm gonna afford it, the main reason for buying is efficiency and to save money but I feel it will be a long time before I actually make savings of 600 quid. With the cost of living increased it's almost immpossible to save up atm :idn: But yeh man your set up is very good, one of the best I've seen

Thank you for your comments.
Your right in a way, dont think of it as buying a light to save money because thats not going to happen, the efficiency and savings is just a bonus and helps to make the running cost more manageable long term.
For me its the light spread and penetration you get over a bulb, also the environment becomes much more manageable which in turn just seems to make your plants look happier. Fans dont need to be as powerful now either so buying fans can be cheaper and running them cheaper still. There are a lot of bonuses to running led in my eyes
You can run the lights dimmed right down inches from the canopy without causing any damage.
I can feel your pain though, everything is getting more and more expensive all the time and it’s getting harder to save like you say.
Dont give up though, im in the same position and when i want something ill do whatever i can to get it, the fact im always skint never stops me, just got to get fixated on something and dont let anything stop you till you get it.
Good luck, hope you get them
