Pressing some Vanilla Tart to see what temperature it wants to be pressed at.
I start with three 1gm pieces of bud. Using a single gram makes figuring % easy.
I then form each gm into a cylinder as best I can. I use a piece of parchment paper to make sure that I am not pulling trichomes from the flower while forming my cylinders.
I place the bud in the press and apply just enough pressure to keep it still and let that heat up for a bit. This is to make sure everything heats evenly.
Once I feel that everything is heated I press tight until I start to feel resistance. I'm not trying to smash as much as possible at first. Just keeping pressure to keep the rosin moving to the outside.
About every 15 seconds I press a little more. Partly to make up for the rosin that is coming out and partly to add more pressure.
Once the timer is finished I smash as hard as I can and remove it from the press.
Then just gather it up and weigh it.
Each gm got 2 presses. Here are the results.
1st gm pressed at 190F for 120 seconds 9% returns.
Pressed a second time at 200F for 180 seconds for another 12% returns.
Total 21% on 2 presses.
2nd gm pressed at 200F for 120 seconds 18% returns.
Pressed a second time at 210F for 180 seconds for another 2% returns.
Total 20% on 2 presses.
3rd gm pressed at 210F for 120 seconds 12%returns.
Pressed a second time at 220F for 180 seconds for another 6% returns.
Total 18% returns.
She certainly wants to be pressed at 200F. First press is always best so at 18% on the first press at 200F that's where I'll be pressing her this time.

Re: Pressing for temp
nice pressing @Trippster62
i press around 180-200 ... my press temp control isnt great so i start at 180 and by the time im done its about 190/195 lol
ive found i prefer to keep quality as high as possible as a tiny bit extra yield at a loss of flavour isnt worth it imo.. such a premium product already !
ive found similar returns from my press so far... some strains aint worth pressing but theres plenty of stuff that will return over 20% which is a good return and makes it highly worth pressing out..
nice work bro .. happy dabbing / getting super high !! :)

Re: Pressing for temp
Nice, i see your using a nugsmasher, been looking at them myself but they are just too much out of my price range at the moment. One day i will own the iq.
Got a Nectar branded 8t press on its way for now though, looks like it should do the job, it has a pressure guage so hopefully might get some good consistent results
Good luck with your smashing
