Re: Cob curing the dope.
Time to sample a bit of cob. Sunshine Daydream x Pine Tar Gush.
This was chopped 6 months ago, been a long slow process, but it's fruitier than a fruit seller down the market.
It's a bugger to grind, but when you crack through the dense fibres, it all fluffs up a bit like a dry tobacco.
And it doesn;t make me cough.

Re: Cob curing the dope.
Latest cropped pair of plants have been wrapped and sweated at 40*C for 24hours and have since been unwrapped, dabbed dry and resealed for a week at 27*C(ish), then they'll be dried and vac packed to cure.
I've just unpacked a new cob from January for tooting...
The outside is coated in rock hard sugar plume/bloom, it's not mouldy or it'd wipe off. (I hope If I get a cough, it's mouldy )

Re: Cob curing the dope.
Cheers Anova! I'm quite sticky most days.
These have been in the vac packs for a month or so now, opening weekly and giving them 2 hours in the dehydrator at 35*C, then re vac packing. They feel dry enough to me now for their final sealing, they smell bloody brilliant if I say so myself. Fruity fermented dope kinda smell.
They'll now just stay in the vac pack to finish their cure for 6 months or so now. I've loads left from the harvest before (I think they've been in the packs for about 10 months now and are nice) so these can sit till I run out of the last lot or get impatient.

Re: Cob curing the dope.
I see so your basically drawing the moisture out from the bud with the vacuum sealer and sweating it.
Reminds me of the stuff we used to get weβd call block weed, it was real dense stuff and had seeds, stems and all sorts in it, was so dense you had to break it up before you put it in the grinder lol.
Fair play to you for trying it, hope you enjoy

Re: Cob curing the dope.
No, the bud stays wet in the vac pack and ferments. The vac sealer is to eliminate oxygen so it doesn't start to rot.Vador wrote: βTue Oct 19, 2021 2:58 pmI see so your basically drawing the moisture out from the bud with the vacuum sealer and sweating it.

It goes in after a day or two hanging so is still wet, then gets sweated at 40*C for 24 hours to kick start fermentation. Then it gets dried with a bit of kitchen towel to get moisture drops off and sealed up for a week at about 30*C to keep that fermentation going.
Then I slowly dry it out weekly to stop the fermentation process with the dehydrator (saves stinking the house up for a day trying to air dry it) and then reseal it to ferment a little more... rinse and repeat until it's dry enough to be popped back in the vac pack and it finishes curing.
I only take the fan leaves off, the rest all comes off the stalks and goes in. I haven't had trim jail for a couple of grows now.
I barely touch flower since doing it, this is all I vape/smoke. No coughing, it's clean and a bit more heady than usual.
The other bonus of this is you can chew it and get a tickle off it. I'm not a fan, but some folks are.
