One other thing mate, just to make life easier in the future

If you cut off the female end of the extension cable, try leave about a foot of cable and save the plug end.

If you ever buy a ecotech controller, you can then wire the female plug to the controller to make it 100 times easier for changing fans over or connecting them in the first place

I plan to cut off the socket end of the cable and leave the plug on.
I don't know what an ecotech controller is, but doubt I'll be ever be purchasing one.

Its a fan controller Aspie with heater and humidity controls, But im sure you have the variac what is supposedly a no hum controller.

It's an environment controller. Controls fans and heater for you

I have a variac for the fan. I don't use heaters. The temp is whatever it is. It's in my bedroom, so if I get cold, I'll have the radiator on in the room, but often I don't use it.

Its a fan controller Aspie with heater and humidity controls, But im sure you have the variac what is supposedly a no hum controller.

I love my variac. Best bit of equipment that I've purchased.
