Re: Raspberry Pi...
You into music production Marcus? I played around loads - cuebase is bloody impossible. Abletons not bad, the apple only ones good too but I forget the name.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Re: Raspberry Pi...
Minty is more than correct I did a bit of IT in college but its more of a hobbie than anything nowadays. It would be cool to create a project with water sensor for pH and ec, link camera, program lights on and off and so many other things. Just look at products like Grobo and Seedo who are using that sort of technology to automate grow spaces. Can become expensive!Minty wrote:Yo Marcus Mate,Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:36 pmSo, my imac is jacked up on heroin and just beachballing me at the moment and I remembered I had a raspberry pi.
Its a 2GB Pi 4 .
Now my question is...
What the fuck can I do with it?
I know I can get on the web and play with programming... but does anyone have any good ideas of things to do with these things? Or are they just toys for kids basically?
Welcome to my world.
What do you do you want to do with it. I have a couple and use them as follows:-
This is just a small sample of things you can do with that as you can install a full operating system on it (Usually Linux based but they now do a M$ Windows port for the memes).
- Retro Pi - Think Arcade emulator which plays all the old Arcade ROMS, or the older consoles such as Amiga, N64, Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad, Dragon, If you have to remember it you can make it happen with a Raspberry Pi and a Wireless or Wired controller for real cheap.
- Kodi - Think video streaming and you basically watch free pirate streams or valid sources, or even stream your own content. Another possibility a simple PI can do.
- Minty Hydro - I use a Raspberry Pi ZERO W (the real small WIFI one) to host my web server and database etc for my growroom/build.
- Minty - GrowRoom420 - Grow Tracking add on / automation idea - Use it host your own Grow Room with some custom sensors etc.
So the question is more of "What the fook you wanna do wit it" ;o)

Re: Raspberry Pi...
Definitely not pal, we have about 80 rasp pi's in operation at my work, each one acting as a camera on the front of forklift trucks scanning barcodes as stuff is picked up.
I personally use Pi's for grows too, auto watering system, greenhouse environment monitor, I also built a "smart meter" for my electricity usage using one (with smart plugs)
I started by looking to see what sensors exist for rasp pi's and then went from there, seeing what's available sparked a few light bulb moments

Re: Raspberry Pi...
I agree, now there are so many things that you can do with the Pi. I had one of the first Model B's, running Kodi on that was soo sluggish. Now the specs have improved considerably and can even handle 4k video (I believe).grownnotflown420 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 11:32 amDefinitely not pal, we have about 80 rasp pi's in operation at my work, each one acting as a camera on the front of forklift trucks scanning barcodes as stuff is picked up.

I've began to use Linux on infrastructure for work, so this could also be a nice hobby/educational thing.
My plugs and temp sensors are all smart, and was looking as Home Assistant as well. Next project, when time permits!
