Topping Vs LST on Autoflowers.

Post by Growmie »

Hi all,

I have been reading through the guides and still can't decide what to do. I was wondering what people prefer when it comes to autos, either topping, LST or both?
It seems that the more I read the more confused I get. LST seems to be considered the old way of doing things when the autoflowers genetics weren't as strong, it seems most people favour topping but some both now?
I'd really appreciate any help as I think some of my plants are nearing the size to begin and I'm keen to get started.

Thanks :Stoned:

how many autos are you doing ? are they already in final pot or are you considering to transplant them aswell?

Some like to top some say don't top I'd if had 2 of the same, I top one and full lst the other and see which you prefer that if you have the room that is,

this one was not topped just lst to the max

Personally, I would only top an auto if it was a long growing strain. I prefer to LST.

I am currently running 9 in total, 6 already in final pot, 3 being transplanted. I think one has actually topped itself funnily enough but I'll have to get a picture to make sure.
I do have room and time to try both but they are different stages of growth so will maybe do one of each.

Thanks mate I'll check it out.

Yeah I have some heavily sativa dominant ones that I am considering topping, just not sure if it's worth it with autos because of the stress to them?

I have some soft plant ties so I will give LST a go.
As I said above maybe as an experiment I will do oje of each and go from there. Then maybe next run I'll top some to see if they respond differently. Problem is I'm running mostly different strains at the moment so it's difficult to compare the two.

Thanks Aspie!

Hi Duke,

Thanks for your response mate. I do have some strains that apparently get very large such as the Galaxy brain, so maybe I'll give that a go with the topping. I'm just reading more about LST
as we speak but I don't really understand supercropping? What I seem to understand is you slightly damage/bend or twist the stems to make the flower focus its energy on more bud sites? Maybe I don't understand the concept properly.

Thanks, hopefully he will chime in with some knowledge!

Lst them all the way. They don't have time to recover from topping. With lst, your spreading her out with minimal stress man
